Hiram E. Leonard Diary, November 25 – December 1, 1863

25th Wednesday  fine for the season but cool. I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home about 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick.

26th Thursday  rather fine cold weather for the season. I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home about 8 ½ & went to bed about 9, nearly sick.

27th Friday  rained some & snowed in the evening & night. I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home about 8 & went to bed about 9 nearly sick.

28th Saturday  rather a cold raw day with snow squalls. A cold night I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home at 8 & went to bed near 9 about sick.

29th Sunday  rather a pleasant day but cold & the ground covered with a light snow about one inch. I did my choars was round the house all day choaring in the celler went to the office about dark & back wrote some in the evening put up some apples & went to bed about 9 nearly sick with a cold.

30th Monday  fine weather for the season & winter, I did my choars was at the office all day & evening, came home about 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick.

December 1st Tuesday  fine weather Dec. I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home about 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ tiard & nearly sick.”

18th Wednesday  fine weather for the season. I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick. Watsons boy was buried.

19th Thursday  rather fine for Nov. I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home at 8 ½ & went to bed 9 ½. T W Watsons youngest child died this evening about 9.

20th Friday  rather a fine day but a cool air, I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home at 8 ½ and went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick with a  cold. Mrs Potter went Hoyts.

21st Saturday  fine weather for the season. I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home by Hoyts about 8 & went to bed about 9 nearly sick—T Watsons Babe was buried.

22nd Sunday  A fine day but some cloudy towards night. I did my choars was at home all day & evening banked the house some choared round etc. E Potter went Horths with Sol Williams started at 10 ½ & got home at 8 ½ cold. I went to bed about 9, tiard & nearly sick.

23rd Monday  rather fine weather for the season. I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home about 8 ½ went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick.

24th Tuesday rather fine weather for Nov. I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home about 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick.”

11th Wednesday  rather fine weather for the season. I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick. R Denham was buryed today.

12th Thursday rather fine weather & looks like Indian Summer. I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home about 8 ½ & went to bed 9 ½. Joseph Munks remains arrived today.

13th Friday fine weather for the season, I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home about 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick with a  cold.

14th Saturday  rather a fine day & evening it sprinkled some in afternoon & evening. I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home at 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ sick.

15th Sunday  A cool cloudy damp morning & spit snow a little. A cloudy damp day & evening, I did my choars went to the office about 10 for Green came back by Hoyts came home & banked my house some, started for my timber at one got to Sherman Willsons at about 3 & at home 5 ½ wrote some, went to bed 8 ½ nearly sick, Joseph Monk was buryed McLafferty preached.

16th Monday  rather fine weather for the season, I did my choars was at the office all day & evening. I came home about 8 ½ tiard & nearly sick went to bed about 9 ½. T W Watsons boy died, Dan Charles Potter _________ going to scool.

17th Tuesday  rather fine for Nov. I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home at 8 ½ went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick.”

4th Wednsday  rather a fine morning but rained about noon was a bad night. I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home about 8 ½ & went to bed soon afternoon Griffeth __________.

5th Thursday  rather a fine day & evening. I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home 8 ½ went to bed 9 ½ Griffeth carried 1 load apples down to Frys Mill & brought back 2 barrels cider & 1 vinagar.

6th Friday  rather fine weather but cool & some cloudy. I did my choars was at the office all day & came home at sunset shut up was sick did not go to store after supper went to bed about 8 ½ sick.

7th Saturday  rather a fine day but some cloudy & squalled in the evening dark I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home at 8 & went to bed about 9 nearly sick with a  cold.

8th Sunday  rather a fine cool day, with some clouds cold air. I did my choars was at home all day & evening called at the office at noon with Hank Gould he came to Noonens. I called at the office at night came home & went to bed about 9 nearly sick.

9th Monday  rather fine weather for the season. I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home about 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick, R Dendram died tonight.

10th Tuesday  rather fine weather for the season. I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home about 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick with a cold.”
