22nd Thursday rather a fine rainey day & evening I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ tiard lonely & sick.

23rd Friday A fine thawey day & grew cool in evening I did my choars was at the office all day & came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ tiard lonely & nearly sick.

24th Saturday rather a cool day & a growing cool I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home at 8 ½ went to bed at 9 ½ tiard lonely & sick Frank Willson was here [in margin] Jerry & Jon Pollard went to Chicago about Jones farm.

25th Sunday A cold morning Mercury stood in the thurmometer at 4 degrees below zero a cold day, thurmometer at noon 8 degrees above zero I did my choars went to the office about 10 ½ came back & choared round the house wrote some etc all day went to office in evening came back & went to bed about 9 tiard lonely & nearly sick clouded up som in afternoon.

26th Monday rather a fine day & evening I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick with a cold.

27th Tuesday fine winter weather I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home at 8 ½ & went to bed 9 ½ tiard & nearly sick.

28th Wednesday fine thawey weather snow a going fast I did my choars was at the office all day, came home about 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ tiard & sick & lonely.”

15th Thursday A verry cold morning the murcury stood at 24 degrees below zero in the morning & 8 below at sunset the coldest day we have had, I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home at about 8 ½ & went to bed at about 9 ½ tiard lonely & about sick with a cold.

16th Friday A cold morning the murcury stood at 26 degrees in the thurmometer in the morning not quite as cold through the day as yesterday I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home at 8 ½ and went to bed at 9 ½ tiard lonely & sick.

17th Saturday rather more pleasant & grew some more warm I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick & lonely [in margin] S Willsons wife came from Coral.

18th Sunday A fine warm pleasant day, thawed & looked like Spring I did my choars was round the hous the most of the day a choaring round went to the office twice in the day time & once in the evening came home & went to bed about 9 tiard & nearly sick with a cold.

19th Monday rather fine winter weather I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home about 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ tiard lonely & nearly sick.

20th Tuesday winter weather I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ tiard lonely & nearly sick.

21st Wednesday rather fine weather for the season I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home about 8 ½ & went to bed 9 ½ nearly sick.”

Historical Society Offers Scholarship for Graduating Senior

Do you know a Warrenville senior heading off to college in the fall? The Warrenville Historical Society is happy to continue to offer a $500 scholarship to a 2016 graduate from either Wheaton Warrenville South or St. Francis High Schools. Eligible seniors must have also graduated from Bower, Johnson or St. Irene’s elementary schools and be a current Warrenville resident to apply. Students can also pick up an application from their school’s guidance counselor’s office. We strongly encourage all students who qualify to apply. The application deadline is March 1, 2016. Please contact the Historical Society with any questions. Funding for the scholarship comes from the Historical Society’s Annual Summer Tea Fundraiser which is supported by a City of Warrenville Hotel Motel Tax Fund Grant.

8th Thursday fine winter weather I did my choars was at the office all day & in the evening came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ tiard & sick.

9th Friday fine weather some cloudy I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ tiard & about sick.

10th Saturday A fine cloudy day & snowed some in afternoon & evening & blowed I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home about 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ tiard lonely & about sick I got my mair shod at Watsons.

11th Sunday A cool cloudy morning but rather a pleasant day I did my choars was at the house the most of the day went to the office 3 times wrote some in evening & went to bed about 9 tiard lonely & sick H Gould & wife were here & George got supper & we had some oysters they went home about 3 oclock.

12th Monday A fine but cloudy day I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home about 8 ½ and went to bed about 9 ½ tiard lonely & nearly sick [in margin] Sherman Williams wife went to Coral.

13th Tuesday rather a mild day, cloudy & snowed some in afternoon & fell about 4 to 6 of inches of snow & lay still I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home about 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ tiard lonely & about sick.

14th Wednesday A mild cloudy morning with from 4 to 6 inches of new snow fell last night, it began to blow about 9 & grew cold very fast & the snow was all piled up & the thurmometer stood 4 below zero at sunset A cold night verry cold I did my choars was at office all day came home 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ sick.”

4th Sunday A cold pleasant day The thurmometer was 4 degrees below zero in the morning & cold all day & night I did my choars was at the house all day except going to office twice I choared round fixed fence a little & went to office in evening wrote some & went to bed about 9 nearly sick.

5th Monday fine weather for winter I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ tiard lonely & sick.

6th Tuesday a fine day for Feb & good sleighing I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ tiard & nearly sick.
