October 1st Thursday  some cloudy & cool  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly worne out with trouble.

2nd Friday  rather fine weather & cool  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at  8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick & worne out.

3rd Saturday  rather fine weather  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ and went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick & worne out.

4th Sunday  rather a fine day & warme  I did my choars was at the office several times but at home the most of the time a choaring round & went to bed at about 9 nearly worne out with trouble Ben Hoath & Miss Filer called here about 3 P M  They went home about dusk & Eliza went home with Miss Filer.

5th Monday  rather fine weather for Oct  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick, Rolen got home sick.

6th Tuesday  rather fine weather  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick & worne out.

7th Wednesday  rather a cloudy damp day  I did my choars was at the office all day & came home 8 ½ went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick & worne out.”

16th Sunday  A fine pleasant with a cool air  I did my choars was round the house the most of the day & fixed a box for the gees to drink in was at the office twice & went to bed at about 9  one goslin had got out & left & we hunted for it & Jerry Pollard brought him [in margin] goslin got out & went to Jerry Pollards.

17th Monday  rather fine weather  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ tiard worne out with trouble  [in margin] Rol went off a selling rights.

18th Tuesday  fine weather for the season  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick & worne out  [in margin] Naperville & Wheaton folks met at Elgin to see about the County Seat & adjourned.

19th Wednesday  fine weather for Aug.  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ sick  Rol got back from selling rights.”

2nd Thursday  very hot weather  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ and went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick & worne out, the old cow took the bull today.

4th Saturday  A fine hot day  I did my choars was at the office all [day] came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at about 10 nearly sick & worned out, selebration at Wheaton & Aurora, Some one way & some the other way, Rol & Cal went to Wheaton.

5th Sunday  rather a fine hot day  some cloudy in afternoon & rained some about 4 I did my choars called at the office about 9 & in evening came home & went to bed at about 9 about sick  I picked some cherrys & choared round.

6th Monday  fine hot weather  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ tiard & nearly sick & worne out with Sister.

26th Friday  A fine warme day  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ tiard sick & worne out with Sister  My cattle all got out of the paster in afternoon & the red cow got with Lahmans bull & took the bull.

27th Saturday  A fine hot day  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick & worne out with trouble.

28th Sunday  A fine & verry hot day  I did my choars was round the house all day a choaring etc was at the store in forenoon & evening came home and went to bed at 9 nearly sick  Rolen carried Eliza over to Filers & left her.

29th Monday  fine weather for June  I did my choars was at the office all day came home 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick & worne out with trouble.

30th Tuesday  fine weather  I did my choars was at the office all [day] came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick & worne out.

11th Wednesday  a cloudy misty morning & day & snowed some in afternoon & evening  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick  The Jerrys Pollard & Dady killed my hogs one weighed 357 the 360#.

12th Thursday  A fine day for winter  I did my choars was at the office all day came home before 8 cut up my hogs & went to bed about 11 or after nearly sick and worne out with trouble.

13th Friday  fine winter weather & cloudy  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & salted some pork & went to bed at 10 ½.

14th Saturday  A cloudy winter day  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 & finished salting my pork & went to bed at about 10 tiard & nearly sick with trouble, Sister is verry worrysome [in margin] Fairbanks had his leg operated on.

15th Sunday  cloudy & snowed a little not verry cold  I did my choars was at the house the most of the day a choaring round went to the office 3 times, was at home in evening wrote some & went to bed about 9 nearly sick & worne out with trouble  Mrs Stone went to meeting at 10 ½ & in the evening H Gould & family were here at supper & Elizer Stone, Rol Willson called.

16th Monday  fine winter weather with a  little snow  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 & went to bed at  9 ½.

17th Tuesday  fine winter weather  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick.”

23rd  Saturday  A fine day but some cloudy and a thunder shower in the evening conciderable rain  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly worn out with trouble  Caroline moved her things to Bliss & they stayed at my house over night.

24th Sunday  A damp cloudy foggy day  I did my choars was at the house all day a choaring round & fixing fence etc Caroline & Roll was here all day & night  Mrs Stone & Nelson went to Bostwicks.

25th Monday  A cloudy damp day & disagreeable rather muddy  I did my choars was at the office all day came home about 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 nearly sick, Rol & Cal were here till half past 2, when Rol took Caroline to the Junction & Mrs Stone went with them Caroline left the Junction at 4 P.M for her fathers Rol came back & stayed all night.

26th Tuesday  A cloudy disagreeable day  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 nearly sick.”

14th Wednesday  A fine warm day & night  I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 10 tiard & nearly sick Charles Leonard started to go to Bloomington about 4 P M in the stage [in margin] Charles Leonard started to Chicago.

15th Thursday  rather fine dry weather for the season  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 10 nearly sick.

16th Friday  rather fine dry weather  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 9 ½ & went to bed at 10 nearly sick  Elder Hunts wife had a son tonight.

17th Saturday  A fine hot day & dry  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 10 nearly sick Elder Hunts wife had a son this night.

18th Sunday  A fine pleasant warm day  I did my choars & went to the office & back was round the house all day a choaring etc went to the office with Frank Hollis about noon, I went to bed about 9 nearly sick  Jude Garys wife her third son this morning in a little over 2 years.

19th Monday  fine weather & dry  I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home about 8 ½ & went to bed about 10, tiard & nearly sick, Rol, Cal, Mrs Stone went to Naperville.

20th Tuesday  fine warm dry weather  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 10 tiard & nearly sick with a cold & trouble.”

24th Thursday  pretty fine winter weather & sleighing  I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick Rol Willson drew wood for me  It snowed in evening & all night & hailed fell some 8 to 12 inches  Rol drew wood from Butterfield Woods.

25th Friday  A cloudy snowey morning & some forenoon had fell about from 8 to 12 inches pretty hard snow  I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home about 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ tiard & nearly sick with a  cold & cough.

26th Saturday  A cold winter day & grew cold toward night  It was a pretty cold night  I did my choars was at the store all day & evening came home about 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ tiard & nearly sick with a cold cough bad weather.

27th Sunday  A cold pleasant day  the sleighing pretty bad  I did my choars was at the office about 11 came back & colored Russeguies hair etc called at Willsons was at office in the evening came home & went to bed about 9 nearly sick with a cold.

28th Monday  rather fine cool winter weather  I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick.

November 1st Thursday  rather fine but cool & some cloudy  I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ tiard lonely & sick, Schovell & wife Fredenhagen & wife, Sim Billings & wife & Caroline Willson went down to Naperville in the stage to a Ball & Caroline came back home with R Pollard.

2nd Friday  rather a fine day but some cloudy  I did my choars was at the office all day came home 8 ½ to bed 9 ½ tiard & sick.

3rd Saturday  rather a cloudy disagreeable day  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ sick  Henry Rogers was married to Roset Beardsly this afternoon at Turner by Methodist minister.

4th Sunday  A cold cloudy raw day & cleared off in evening  I did my choars & went to Goulds with Bliss horse Wallace went with me got home at sunset went to Salors & got my photograph taken went to store in evening went to bed at 8 ½ sick Roll Cal went to Sher Willsons.

5th Monday  rather fine weather  I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ sick & lonely.

6th Tuesday  a fine day & evening  I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick.”

29th Wednesday  rather a cloudy day with light showers  I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home about 8 ½ and went to bed about 9 ½ tiard lonely & about sick.

30th Thursday  rather a cloudy showerery day & more warm  I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home about 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick, Fry a thrashing at Lahmans.

31st Friday  A cloudy showerey day & warm  I did my choars was at the office all day & in the evening came home about 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick, thrashing at Lahmans.

September 1st Saturday  A cloudy damp day with a heavey shower in the morning which spoiled thrashing for all day  I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home about 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ tiard & nearly sick with a soar throat  Fry set his machine here to thrash but the shower stopped him.

2nd Sunday  A little cloudy in the morning & foggy but cleared off & was a fine pleasant warm day with a fine cool air  I did my choars eat breckfust & went to the office about 9 ½ come back & went down at 10 ½ again, was round the house the most of the day a choaring, went to bed about 9.

3rd Monday  rather a fine day but cloudy some  I did my choars was at the store the most of the day came home about 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 tiard  an nearly sick with a cold  etc Rol Willson had the oats thrashed by Fry & I helped carry mine up stairs in the store we had 470 bushels [in margin] Fry thrashed the oats for Willson.

4th Tuesday  A cloudy rainey day & nasty  I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ tiard lonely & about sick.”
