Hiram E. Leonard Diary, January 14 – 20, 1869

14th Thursday  A fine day for Jan  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick & worne out with Sister.

15th Friday  A fine pleasant day for winter I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick & worne out.

16th Saturday  A most beautiful day for winter  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick etc.

17th Sunday  a cloudy day with a raw wind but not cold, I did my choars was at the house the most of the called at the office about one choared round the house the rest of the day was at the office in evening came home and went to bed about 9 nearly sick & worne out, Benjamin Hoath came & brought Eliza home about one.

18th Monday  rather a fine day for winter  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick.

19th Tuesday  a fine day  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick etc  Moses Bliss died this morning about 3 oclock after being sick a few weeks.

20th Wednesday  fine winter weather  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick.”

22nd Thursday  rather fine for Oct  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick & worne out with trouble.

23rd Friday  A fine pleasant day  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick & worne out [in margin] John Billings came to Sims.

24th Saturday  fine weather for Oct  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick & worne out with trouble  John Billings & lady left Sim Billings this forenoon for Aurora, they came yesterday.

25th Sunday  A most beautiful warm pleasant day  I did my choars was at the office in morning at noon & night, was round the house the most of the day a choaring etc went to bed about 9 nearly sick  Mrs Stone & Eliza McNelly went to Wheaton with Emma  Stone for her to go to Indiana  Benjamin Hoath came.

26th Monday  rather fine weather  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick & worne out.

27th Tuesday  fine cold weather  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick & worne out with trouble.

28th Wednesday  fine cool weather  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick etc.”

16th Thursday  a verry hot day  some showers round I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick & worne out with trouble.

17th Friday  a fine hot day  some showers round I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ worne out with trouble.

18th Saturday  A fine hot day with a fine shower  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick & worne out with trouble [in margin] Wm Griffith & Mary Williams were married today Col Warren got home from N Y & Washington.

19th Sunday  A fine warm day & hot in the middle cool towards night was some cloudy I did my choars was round the house all day fixed calf pen etc was at office twice & went to bed about 9 nearly sick Benjamin Hoath came about 5 & road out with Eliza.

20th Monday  A fine hot dry day  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick & worne out with trouble.

21st Tuesday  fine hot dry weather  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ tiard sick & worne out with trouble of Sister.

22nd Wednesday  fine hot dry weather  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ sick & worne out with Sister  heifer went to bull.”
