Hiram E. Leonard Diary, September 5 – 11, 1866

5th Wednesday  rather more fine but cloudy & damp  I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home about 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick.

6th Thursday  rather a fine day but some showerery  I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ tiard lonely & about sick  George Sidwell commence to white washing store.

7th Friday  rather a fine day  I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home about 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick with a cold, John German died tonight.

8th Saturday  rather a fine  I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick with a cold had plastering & washing in store, George Sidwell watched at Germans with his corpse.

9th Sunday  A cloudy disagreeable day & sprinkled several times  I did my choars went to the office twice & was at home the most of the day choaring round went to bed about 9 nearly sick with a cold, George German was buried today at Naperville.

10th Monday  cloudy damp weather  I did my choars was at the office all day & in the evening came home about 8 ½ & went to bed 9 ½ tiard & nearly sick with a cold.

11th Tuesday  cloudy damp weather  I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home about 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ tiard & about sick [in margin] York here.”
