The Historical Society is partnering with a new group in DuPage County that is hoping to better gather and preserve the rich history of our county. Voices of DuPage is working to help local historical societies and museums organize and publicize their oral history collections and make them more readily available to the public. The group is also looking to gather people to share stories and memories about DuPage County topics that span the county’s long history through to the present day.

As part of the Voices of DuPage program, the Warrenville Historical Society will hold a sharing meet-up on Wednesday, June 15 from noon-1:30p.m. on the topic of the incorporation of the City of Warrenville. 2017 will mark the 50th anniversary of this historic event and we want to hear your stories from the period of debate over incorporation and any memories from the City’s early years as a formal body of government.  Although our community was founded in 1833, it took 134 years to become a city in 1967!  Join our director Sara Phalen for some refreshments and to share any memories you have from the incorporation of the City of Warrenville and stay tuned for more information about events to celebrate the anniversary in 2017. If you would like to join the 50th Anniversary Planning Committee please contact Sara at (630)393-4215 or info@warrenvillehistorical.org.
