Hiram E. Leonard Diary, May 11 – 17, 1865

11th Thursday A cold dry day & night with a heavey frost & water frozen this morning I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ sick.

12th Friday A cold day & night with a frost this morning I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ lonely & sick.

13th Saturday A cold cloudy day began to rain in afternoon about 5 was quite a frost in morning & rained during the night quite hard I did my choars was at office all day & evening came home about 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ tiard lonely & about sick Henry Wyman or Pollard got home tonight from Nashville had been there to work. Seneca Bliss came home from Chicago to this place.

14th Sunday A cloudy misty morning had rained last night cleared off towards noon & was quite pleasant in afternoon I did my choars was at the house almost all day a choaring round went to post office near night made up the mail & came home about 8 & went to bed nearly sick tiard & lonely.

15th Monday rather fine weather for the season I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home about 8 ½ & went to bed 9 ½ tiard lonely & nearly sick.

16th Tuesday rather fine weather for May a growing warm I did my choars was at the office all day & in the evening came home about 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ tiard & nearly sick.

17th Wednesday fine weather for season I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home about 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ tiard lonesome & nearly sick.”
