Hiram E. Leonard Diary, May 5 – 11, 1864

“5th Thursday rather fine weather for May but cool the most of the time. I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home at 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick.

“6th Friday fine warm forenoon but cool afternoon & evening, I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home about 8 ½ by Hoyts and went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick & lonesome and downspiritied.

“7th Saturday A cool cloudy morning with a heavey shower about 8, warm in afternoon & evening & some sprinkling, more showers in evening & night.

“8th Sunday A warm cloudy rainey morning but brook away about 9, was some cloudy the most of the day the ground quite wet. I did my choars was around home the most of the day a choaring & fixing fence went to the office & Hoyts in afternoon came home & went to bed about 9 nearly sick with cold.

“9th Monday rather a fine weather but cool for the season. I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home about 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ tiard, nearly sick, lonely & downspiritied.

“10th Tuesday fine cool weather & some cloudy, I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home about 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick with a cold & lonely as death & sick of home.

“11th Wednesday fine cool weather for May, I did my choars was at the office all day & in the evening came home about 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ tiard & sick and as lonesome as death all the time.”
