Hiram E. Leonard Diary, July 15 – 21, 1863

15th Wednesday  fine dry weather but more cool quite a cold night. I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home about 8 ½ & soon went to bed nearly sick.

16th Thursday  A cold pleasant morning with a frost in many places so that it cut & spoilt corn. I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came at 8 ½ went to bed 9 ½.

17th Friday  A cool pleasant dry day. I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home about 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ tiard & nearly sick.

18th Saturday  rather a fine day & more warm. I did my choars was at the office all day & in evening came home about 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ tiard & nearly sick. Hoyt came down & carried Caroline home.

19th Sunday  A fine pleasant morning but clouded up in forenoon & begun to sprinkle a little about noon & wet conciderable for 2 or 3 hours, I did my choars was round all home all day went to the office about 10 ½ & again about 1, choared round some picked some currants & made one gallon wine, called at Hoyts etc went to bed about 8 ½ or 9.

20th Monday  fine weather for the season, I did my choars was at the office all day & in the evening came home about 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ tiard & near sick.

21st Tuesday  rather a fine day & evening, I did my choars was at the office all day & in the evening came home about 8 ½ and went to bed about 9 ½ tiard & nearly sick.”
