Hiram E. Leonard Diary, July 8 – 14, 1863

8th Wednesday  A fine dry hot day verry dry. I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home about 8 ½ & went to bed 9 ½ nearly sick.

9th Thursday  rather a fine day & evening but dry. I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home at 8 ½ & went to bed 9 ½ tiard & nearly sick.

10th Friday  A fine day but some cloudy & looks like rain verry hot & muggy. I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home at 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick. Mrs Holmes had an exhibition of her school at the Academy this evening house full. Caroline went to Naperville & got her teeth pulled.

11th Saturday  A cool morning & day & cloudy looks like rain is very dry. I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home 8 ½ & soon went to bed good night to sleep.

12th Sunday  A cool cloudy sun shown more. Sun shown more in afternoon than before, I did my choars was round the house the most of the day, went to office twice, wrote some red some mowed some & choared round house picked some cherry, called at Hoyts in evening came home & went to bed 9.

13th Monday  fine warm dry weather a getting verry dry, I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home at about 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ tiard & nearly sick.

14th Tuesday  A fine dry warm day no rain for some time. I did my choars was at the office all day & in the evening came home about 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick.”
