Hiram E. Leonard Diary, July 1 – 7, 1863

1st Wednesday  A fine hot day. I did my choars was at the office all day & evening a making out my P.O returns came home at 8 ½ & soon went to bed.

2nd Thursday  A fine day but dry & hot, I did my choars was at the office all day, finished making out my returns came home about 8 ½ & went to bed 9 ½. Caroline came home at noon & Elizabeth went to Griffeths between 6 & 7, to stay over night.

3rd Friday  A fine hot dry day. I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home at 8 ½ & went to bed 9 ½.  J B Pollard came out to.

4th Saturday  a fine hot day. I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home about 9 by Hoyts & went to bed about 10 Caroline went to St. Charles with Rol Willson & got back at 1 oclock to __________ Murry Shorm & wife were here.

5th Sunday  A fine hot day & evening. I did my choars was at the house a picking cherry the most of the day went to office about 10 came back tuk a nap about one & picked cherry before & after Caroline & Roll went her Fathers & got home after 9 & went to bed between 9 & 10.

6th Monday  rather fine dry hot weather. I did my choars was at the office all day & in the evening came home about 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick.

7th Tuesday  A fine dry hot day the ground a getting verry dry. I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home at 8 ½ went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick.”
