Hiram E. Leonard Diary, June 24 – 30, 1863

24th Wednesday  rather a find hot dry day, I did my choars was at the office all day & in the evening came home about 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick.

25th Thursday  A dry hot day & evening & looked a little like rain a getting verry dry. I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home at 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½.

26th Friday  A hot dry day & evening verry hot the thurmometer at 98. I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½  Wm McNelly & wife came here & went home about 4 & Caroline went home with them & Wallace to stay a few days.

27th Saturday a verry hot dry day, the thurmometer at 95, I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home about 9 & soon went to bed nearly sick.

28th Sunday  A hot day & verry dray the thurmometer at 95 degrees above zero, I got up ½ past 7 did my choars was at home the most of the day went to the office 3 times & Hoyts, choared round some & visited Gould and folks went to bed at 9, Gould left for home about 4.

29th Monday  A fine hot dry day. I did my choars was at the office all day & evening, came home about 9 & went to bed tiard & nearly sick. Car at her fathers.

30th Tuesday  rather a fine hot day & dry. I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home about 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ tiard.”
