Hiram E. Leonard Diary, February 25 – March 3, 1863

25th Wednesday  rather warm muddy weather for Feb.  I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home about 8 & went to bed about9 nearly sick.

26th Thursday  rather fine muddy weather.  I did my choars was at the office all day & in the evening came home about 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½.

27th Friday  rather stormy a little I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home about 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ tiard & sick.

28th Saturday rather a cloudy day & evening & snowed some in the evening I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home by Hoyts & Fowlers about 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½, Dr Wellman went to Naperville with Fowler & came back sick & went to Fowlers sick had _________.

March 1st Sunday  rather a cloudy stormy with some flakes of snow cloudy forenoon, more pleasant afternoon & evening, ground covered with snow in morning but all went off before night, I got up about 7 & went to store to get med for Dr Wellman came home by Fowlers choared round, went to Hoyts about 10 ½ & to office & looked once with Col Warren came home about 2 choared round, got a calf into the howel wrote some did my choars went to Hoyts, Fowlers, the office came home about 8 & went to bed about 9.

2nd Monday  rather fine for winter.  I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 nearly sick with a cold.

3rd Tuesday  rather fine weather for winter I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home at 8 ½ went to bed at 9.”
