Civil War Diaries, November 18, 1862

Ashley Carpenter Diary Entry:

Nov. 18  I was unwell most all night, did not get up until late & ate my cup of rice at 10 oclock, did not go out to company drill.  In the afternoon the line Officers presented our Col with a sword after which he made a pretty speech & was followed by Genl Ward.”

Hiram Leonard Diary Entry:

18th Tuesday  A cloudy damp forenoon & rained about 4 & rained in evening I did my choars & went to Naperville twice with two loads sugar cane & Pollards team one load.  I did home about dark did my choars went to office came home about 9 & soon went to bed.”
