Civil War Diaries, November 16, 1862

Ashley Carpenter Diary Entry:

“Nov. 16  Sabbath morning has again rolled around & the every day routine of duty come with it as usual.

The forenoon was spent in Regimental inspection a tedious & useless task.  The town church bells rang reminding me of the little hamlet where we used to worship before the battle din called us hither.  I wrote a letter in the afternoon to Cousin Marion Bird.  It rained quite freely during the night.”

Hiram Leonard Diary Entry:

“16th Sunday  A cool cloudy morning & rained some about 11 & during the afternoon & evening, I did my choars went to office came back by Hoyts & home & choared round the house some etc was at Hoyts in evening came home about 8 & went to bed at 9.”
