Nov. 8  Went through the regular routine of a day in camp.  Read a speech from Fremont in a New York Tribune sent me from Home.”

Hiram Leonard Diary Entry:

8th Saturday  a verry fine day & evening.  I did my choars was at office till near 11 when I went to drag in Wrays turnips in Hoyts garden & drew them home near night was at office in evening came home about 9 & went to bed soon after tiard & nearly sick with a cold.”
