Civil War Diaries, October 25, 1862

Ashley Carpenter Diary Entry:

Oct. 25  Roll call was the first of the days programme.  It being Saturday we were excused from drilling.  Woke in morning & found a dead pig in the tent weighing about 15 lbs.  One of the boys in the company brought it in.  We had a meal that made us think of home.  We went to sleep with full stomachs.”

Hiram Leonard Diary Entry:

25th Saturday  rather a cold raw day & evening.  I did my choars & went to the mill after my cider had a most 3 barrels got home about 11 choared round the house pulled onions & wheeled home Wrays onions, went to office in evening came home at 9 & soon went to bed near 10.”
