Civil War Diaries, October 18, 1862

Ashley Carpenter Diary Entry:

Oct. 18  As usual formed in line of battle at four oclock.  Went down town in the morning & again at evening.  Evaded the patrols very nicely.  Homer Batch was taken sick with spasms & had in the night.  Made my report & gave it in to Head Quarters.  At midnight the order came & we hurried without Knap Sacks into line & started for Lawrensburg reaching there at 7 Oclock.”

Hiram Leonard Diary Entry:

18th Saturday  A fine pleasant day, I did my choars was at home a drawing B corn & worked till 9 at night & went to bed about 10, did not go to office.  J Pomeroy helped about B corns.”
