Civil War Diaries, October 17, 1862

Ashley Carpenter Diary Entry:

Oct. 17  As per Order, we formed in line of battle at 4 o’clock.  from eight to ten were target shooting drilled all of the afternoon until dark.  Recd a letter of Wm. J. Hollister of five pages.”

Hiram Leonard Diary Entry:

17th Friday  A fine cool pleasant day, I did my choars was at work round home, picking apples etc at office in evening came home at 9 & went to bed about 10.  J Pomeroy bound sugar cane.”
