Civil War Diaries, October 15, 1862

Ashley Carpenter Diary Entry:

“Oct. 15  I called the roll at 5 oclock.  Went up a serpentine path along the hillside to a spring that gushed from its side to wash.  Went on battalion drill all the afternoon.

A search flag & two prisoners came into town captured by our forces.  Went up to head Quarters on the countersign to report the company.”

Hiram Leonard Diary Entry:

15th Wednesday  A fine pleasant day with a frost.  I did my choars was at the house at work all day cut B corn etc came home about 9 & went to bed about 10 sick.  J Pomeroy cut B corn & Dady.”
