Civil War Diaries, October 13, 1862

Ashley Carpenter Diary Entry:

“Oct. 13  Was appointed Acting Orderly.  Had plenty of business on hand in that capacity.  15 of our boys were detailed on picket duty.  Robert was one of the number.  We were detached from our Regt with 3 other companies to support the 18th Ind Battery.  I made out our evening report–received the countersign & took it to the Regimental HeadQuarters.”

Hiram Leonard Diary Entry:

13th Monday  A fine cool day & evening.  I did my choars was at the office all day & in the evening came home by Hoyts about 9 & went to bed a little before 10 nearly sick a frost this morning.”
