Civil War Diaries, October 9, 1862

Ashley Carpenter Diary Entry:

“Oct. 9  We left Frankfort before breakfast & went 2 miles beyond & there prepared rations for a force march.

Four cavaliers & Rebels came into Camp bearing a flag of truce.  They came to effect an exchange of a paroled prisoner.

Another flag of truce came in at evening.  We were ordered to lay on our arms all night.”

Hiram Leonard Diary Entry:

9th Thursday  rather fine weather.  I did my choars was at office some & choared round some drew 2 loads wood from Hoyts for William was at store in evening came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 10.  C. Noonen started a trapping.”
