Civil War Diaries, September 26, 1862

Ashley Carpenter Diary Entry:

Sept. 26  Learned that Mother & Sarah Jane were in town.  They came to Camp in the morning & staid all day.  Sewed most of the time on my clothes.

I was “Seargent of the Guard” to-day.

Was troubled considerable by rumagatis that were sky-larcking about town & returning at midnight.”

Hiram Leonard Diary Entry:

26th Friday  rather a fine day & evening.  I did my choars was at the office all day nearly & evening came home by Hoyts about 8 ½ got home about 9 & went to bed about 10 nearly sick, was sick about midnight & had to get up 2 or 3 times before morning, Wray got home about 1 oclock in the night, ______  James Fairbank, F. F. Fowler & I think an other.”
