Civil War Diaries, September 25, 1862

Ashley Carpenter Diary Entry:

“Sept. 25  Went to the lake to wash, returned, ate breakfast, & then had a general clearing out of the tent.

The usual routine of duty were the only items of interest.”

Hiram Leonard Diary Entry:

25th Thursday  rather a fine day.  I did my choars was at the office the most of the day & evening came home by Hoyts about 8 ½ & got home about 9 & soon went to bed nearly sick.  S. B. Austin’s wife died this morning before daylight in a sort of fit or palpitation of the hart, Frank went to Richards below Naperville after C Noonen with Wrays horse.”
