Civil War Diaries, September 16, 1862

Ashley Carpenter Diary Entry:

“Sept. 16  Went out to drill at 7 oclock with Major Dutton.

The afternoon we had our first battalion drill.  Went to prayer meeting on the grounds in the eve.  The rain came pouring down in the night.  The tent leaked & made it somewhat uncomfortable.”

Hiram Leonard Diary Entry:

16th Tuesday  a fine day for the season.  I did my choars was at the office the most of the day & evening came home between 8 & 9 by Hoyts & got home about 9, went to bed about 10 tiard & sick.”
