Civil War Diaries, September 8, 1862

Ashley Carpenter Diary Entry:

“Sept. 8  Took a final leave of Home, bade Mrs. Smith & family adieu.

Went to the Junction friends were assembled to greet the boys, but were disappointed.  I took the eleven oclock train & went to camp.  Found the boys all well.  But a little disaffection had grown up on account of my absence.”

Hiram Leonard Diary Entry:

8th Monday  Rather fine weather for the season.  I did my choars was at the office all day & evening came home about 8 by Hoyts got home at 9 & went to bed about 10 tiard & nearly sick.”
